Sponge cakes are normally not really a healthy snack. They may have a very low fat content, but they do contain a lot of sugars. In this recipe for sugarfree sponge cakes, the flour is replaced by almond flour and the sugar is replaced by Steviala Kristal Sweet. Just as tasty and much healthier!

In addition, these sugarfree sponge cakes are also suitable for diabetics and for people who want to watch their weight or want to lose weight. Watch out with the number of carbohydrates in the almond flour that you purchase, which can vary from +/- 5 grams of carbohydrates to 20 grams of carbohydrates per 100 grams. So a big difference! Meanwhile, Steviala almond flour has only 5.8 grams of carbohydrates per 100 grams. It is therefore an ideal replacement for wheat flour.

Making low carb sponge cake

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Meanwhile, beat the egg, egg white and the Steviala Kristal Sweet until a light mixture is formed. Then mix in the rest of the ingredients and beat well. You then line a baking tray with baking paper so that the sponge cakes do not burn. You then make 4 sponge cakes from the dough. Next, bake the sponge cakes in the middle of the oven for 15 minutes until they have a nice golden brown colour. Then let the sugarfree sponge cakes cool and enjoy! 1 sponge cake, taking into account that you use Steviala almond flour, contains only 1.7 grams of carbohydrates. Enjoy your dinner!
