Almost everyone has some good intentions for the new year. Starting the new year healthy, eating healthy and exercising a lot is often at the top of the list. Unfortunately, many people lose sight of their goals after a few weeks. So with the following five tips will make it a lot easier for you to start the year healthy, and stay that way.
Tip 1 - Be realistic
You may be eager to start the new year with a healthy lifestyle. In doing so, it is incredibly important to be realistic. If necessary, put some important goals on paper and write down how you want to achieve them. Realize that it is not an easy task to change your entire lifestyle. Small steps often work better. Keep in mind that every small change is still a change. Start by making small changes first, such as replacing high-calorie and high-sugar products. For example, replace products high in sugars with a sugarfree or low-sugar product. On our recipe page you will find numerous sugar-free recipes that will still allow you to continue to enjoy without guilt!
Tip 2 - Consciously buy products in the supermarket
The supermarket offers dozens of products full of sugars. Not only sweets, chocolate and cakes contain a lot of sugar, even in products you would not expect, sugars and artificial additives are added. Similarly, deli meats, breads and drinks often contain all kinds of sweeteners and sugars. It is therefore wise to look carefully at the label. Pay attention not only to the nutritional values, but especially to the list of ingredients. That way you will know exactly what you are putting in your shopping basket. An additional tip we want to give you is to always go to the store prepared and preferably not hungry. Make a shopping list in advance so you know exactly what products you need. Be aware of what you buy and purchase sugar-free products, both in the supermarket and in our web shop. Then start the new year healthy!
Tip 3 - Try to exercise enough
Healthy eating and plenty of exercise is the golden combination for a healthy lifestyle in the new year. Try to get some exercise in between working or studying. Get up every 30 minutes to stretch. Scientists and doctors also recommend walking at least half an hour every day. If you have an office job, you'll probably sit still most of the day. However, it is very important to burn enough calories every day. For example, go for a walk around the block during your break, or walk to work if distance allows. This is how you will enter the new year healthy!
Tip 4 - Get on your bike more often
In addition to walking, a good bike ride also helps you burn calories. For example, leave the car at home more often and take your bike to work or to the store more often. By biking, you increase your heart rate for a certain amount of time, causing you to burn more calories. When you burn more calories than you take in, you lose weight. That sounds easy, of course, but making small changes like biking to work can already make a difference. This is how you start the new year healthy.
Tip 5 - Eat sugarfree snacks or a piece of fruit
There is nothing wrong with having a snack once in a while. However, it is wise to choose a healthy snack. Choose a piece of fruit. Or this sugar-free granola also gives you lots of energy, which is very nice after a long walk or bike ride. This granola is at least as tasty as an ordinary bar or the sugary varieties from the supermarket. The difference, however, is that with this low-carb granola, you choose to enjoy fewer sugars. Serve the granola with a bowl of quark or yogurt and you also get the necessary protein right away.
